Ovako has merged Hofors and Hällefors, previously two separate business units. The purpose of the merger is to have a simplified and even more efficient organisational structure. “This will increase customer value through a strengthened commercial organisation and business offering,” the company explains. The new Hofors Hellefors Business Unit has a joint management team with members from both sites.
“We see this merger as a natural step since the two business units already have a lot in common—metallurgy, their product offering and multiple shared customers. Ninety per cent of what is sold in Hällefors today is produced in Hofors, and seventy per cent of the steel produced in Hofors is sold through Hällefors,” says Marcus Hedblom, president and CEO of Ovako.
