Swiss Steel Group forging green plans with thyssenkrupp Aerospace
When an aircraft takes off in future, it is quite possible that “Green Steel” from Swiss Steel Group will be along for the flight. Swiss Steel Group will be exclusively supplying green steel as of next year to thyssenkrupp Aerospace, a company of thyssenkrupp Material Services.
Starting in 2023, Swiss Steel Group will be supplying green forged and rolled bar and bright steel to thyssenkrupp Aerospace, a supplier to the world’s leading aviation and aerospace companies. The manufacturing process of this material is especially environmentally friendly and in process emissions are 80 to 95 percent lower than the industry average.
In addition to aspiring to make all company activities climate-neutral as of 2030, thyssenkrupp Materials Services is also supporting customers in the decarbonization of their supply chains. Green products and services are essential in this context and support the aspiration of the western world’s largest and mill-independent materials distribution and service providers also in terms of sustainability to become the industry leader.
Frank Koch, CEO of Swiss Steel Group, comments on this green cooperation: “This agreement is another highlight in our previous cooperation with the thyssenkrupp group. We have known and appreciated each other for years and look forward to a shared green future!
Both business partners intend to continue to strengthen the connection and also to involve each other in other business areas where appropriate.
Patrick Marous, CEO of thyssenkrupp Aerospace adds: “We see an ever-growing demand for CO2 reduced material among our customers. The aviation industry in particular is heavily involved in the topic. We are thus pleased that we can meet these demands together with a longstanding partner.”
