egeplast doubles its microduct production capacity to meet the increasing demand for premium microducts for fibre optic network expansion. For the new production hall, egeplast acquired a 36,000 m² neighbouring plot of land from the town of Greven. The plant concept is characterised “by improved production efficiency, high flexibility and 100% quality control,” egeplast states. The production hall was built according to Lean Production aspects and the latest energy standards by the engineering team. Microduct production will take place in the new 11,000 m² production hall from the second quarter of 2023.
The expansion of fibre-optic networks in Central Europe is a prerequisite for the digitalisation of society and the economy in the coming years. Based on the current market analysis of the fibre optic association BREKO, Germany’s current fibre optic quota is only around 18 %. According to BREKO, however, this figure will rise very sharply in the next few years as more and more investors invest in fibre infrastructure in Germany, with a volume of 50 billion euros in the next five years. “With the new plant, egeplast can provide its customers reliable supplies of high-quality microducts with short transport routes,” the company explains.
